Screen Grab Confab, vol. I
~ 25 August 2004 ~
Got skillz with a z? Time to bring it and serve us what you got.
In what could soon become the wicked sister of Speak Up’s Logo Smackdown, the Screen Grab Confab gives YOU the chance to show and tell and US the chance to savor the flavor.
Here are the rules:
- Do a screen grab of whatever you’re working on right now. It could be a layout, it could be print, it could even be code.
- Crop a 320px × 320px portion of it at 100%. Obviously, the entire screen grab won’t fit within those dimensions, but the point is to only whet our appetites and make us want more.
- Post as a comment using <img> with the grab hosted on your own server. Feel free to link the image to a full-size version, but only the 320px square is required.
After that, sit back and enjoy the show. Post feedback as needed.
Enjoy.

Actually, this is something I have been working on for 1 or two days now, nice oppurtunity to show it ;). It isn’t finished, tweaking something every day.
It’s a blog and it’s in Dutch, so if you don’t speak dutch you won’t understand anything on the site :P I’d like feedback.
Jason: Looks cool!
Mockup of the re-design of my personal site, the perpetual work-in-progress.
Advanced Calculus… It makes me sick but it’s suposed to be good for me. 1 more week of this and then I’ll be back among the living. Also, excuse the “crap-tastic” quality. I want to get a serious camera for digital photography once school is off my back.
Is this wetting your appetite yet? If you’d prefer something other than the Cauchy-Hadamard Theorem, just let me know.
Getting ready for class…
Finishing up a slick little ASP Intranet function that pulls an XML weather feed every ten minutes and saves it to the web server, which then parses it. That way we’re not hitting weather.com everytime someone opens a browser.

This is an awesome idea Cameron! Perhaps this could be a weekly / monthly / whatever thing? It definitely inspires creativity seeing what all is out there, as well as imparts knowledge unknowingly (e.g. just found about OmniOutliner, looks awesome!).
Impatiently refreshing this page periodically throughout the day waiting for my (virtually) free 20GB ipod. I was suprised to learn this isn’t a hoax!

This definitely IS a source of inspiration. So many folks have shown their current work on their personal sites, so as of now, that is my work for the day. I’ve dusted it off (last modified date reads as 2004-04-19!) and I’m going to finish it if it kills me - which it might
A personal project. My son recently started showing an interest in Photography, so I made him a small site to showcase what he’s done so far.
So I’m sitting here trying to decide if I should keep it the way it is with the somewhat larger images loading into an iframe, use some kind of onmouseover slideshow JS, or what……still haven’t decided………
Meh! Cleaning up code to make it (at least) 75% web standards compliant. Improved around 35% in page weight, trimming useless tags.

Web Design is for the birds
Both the designs I’m working on today contain birds. One is bird watching related, so I knew that one would always have feathered features - but when the second client requested and eagle in his design I was a little confused…

In dire need of a new job, I’m trying to get my portfolio online.
Fantastic idea, and it’s reassuring to see so many people working on so many things, somewhat surprising (although it shouldn’t be) to realise that the new media design world is bigger than the blogosphere, and weird to see so many people working on redesigns!
Here’s my contribution:
Currently working on a website for my Belgian student society WiNA. Fantastic idea Cameron!
My buddy Rich runs a couple of sport teams in the Philadelphia area called Minor Threat. I am building him a website to feature stats, bios and results. This is part of the banner I’m working on.
Mixing up some CSS and playing with new color schemes for a client site.

Trying to design, part I:
I hope that I’m posting this right, I’m so not good with HTML, but give me film and I’m all about it… as for screen captures, pick a screen, any screen…
gameover.com - design still very much in progress. Note this is nr8, the rest are actually quite complete but, of course, I’ve decided to start over. Again
This was a layout for a client’s blog site that fell through. I liked it enough (even though it’s not all that unique) to turn it into “special” project, complete with a new photo illustration centerpiece I’m working on.
Here’s my 320 ….
The weather script from my personal site that parses out the data from Environment Canada and displays the appropriate graphic, condition and temperature. The text glow is CSS2.0 so it only shows in Internet Explorer, for asthetic sake I posted that version.
I admit freely i was not working

I’m sorry, but “Im redesigning a my 2 year old son’s blog” is the absolute saddest thing I’ve read all day.
Infants with blogs are a perfect sign of misplaced parenting; redesigned ones are off the scale. If your son is only two years old, FFS get off your computer and spend some real time with him.
Apart from that weirdness, great thread.
to Bruce: Children DO sleep you know.
I’m looking at my browser history to look for your weblog :) Can’t really find it in google. Fortunately, there’s browser history (one of the least used browser feature). This is really interesting threads.
Hello
Uh oh, what could this be? :) :) :)
