Big UI changes over at Flickr. Includes smaller changes such as shifting the photo sets from left to right sidebar on the Photos page, to much bigger changes like pop-up menus for the main nav and iPhoto-like improvements to Organizr. I thought the previous nav worked just fine, but that’s just me apparently.
I agree with you. Maybe we're all opposed to change, but the reasons for disliking the changes are valid. Atleast we have a good case...ha.
And I was incredibly surprised to see that you were allowing comments on a link. It caught my eye! Why don't you do this more often?
Oh, I've done it several times in the past. I've found...
1) Readers tend not to comment on linkage items.
2) It makes for more comment spam clean-up.
Oh you're certainly not the only one. I for one am not impressed with the dropdowns.
The functionality of the site has definitely been improved, but the aesthetics?
What's wrong with some separating background color in the navigation and sitemap? You can see how it simply screams for it.
AND it doesn't work properly in Opera. A deadly sin, as far as I'm concerned..

I liked the previous system, as well--the greater transparency offered by not hiding options and features in drop-down menus seemed well worth the larger overhead. The new system feels like it was designed to be spare, but in comparison to the older Flickr UI, it's reduced the page to a kind of emptiness.
So I'm right there with you, Cameron.
(I actually use Flickr--my shameless self-promotion--so it's not like I'm just spinning my wheels here.)
