Screen Grab Confab, vol. II

~ 22 November 2004 ~

Given the success of Screen Grab Confab vol. I, let’s enjoy a repeat.

Vol. I gave us a sneak peek at a few notables, such as Dan Cederholm’s TOevolt ’04 presentation, Lousco Labradors, and CSS Zen Garden #126. I expect Vol. II to be no different. Pressure’s on.

Here’s a recap of the rules:

  1. Do a screen grab of whatever you’re working on right now. It could be a layout, it could be print, it could even be code.
  2. Crop a 320px × 320px portion of it at 100%. Obviously, the entire screen grab won’t fit within those dimensions, but the point is to only whet our appetites and make us want more.
  3. Post as a comment using <img> with the grab hosted on your own server. Feel free to link the image to a full-size version, but only the 320px square is required.

I’ll chime in a little later and thereby give someone else the honor of going first this time around. Please enjoy.

187   Michael O'Brien ~ 24 November 2004 at 02:45 AM

This is great, I’m currently trying to pull myself away from repeated (and very amateurish compared to everyone else here) edits of my site and back to boring .NET testing mojo.

I, along with a few others from our school, The Art Institute of California - San Diego, are working on a tutorials site. The intent of the site is to help not only fellow students and other beginning designers but to help anyone that may have questions or problems with web and/or print design.

196   Adam ~ 24 November 2004 at 08:50 AM

I am getting a kick out of all the “intranet” shots!

It is mighty fun getting a glimpse of all these backend applications for which you would of never had the opportunity otherwise.

Keep em’ coming!

A little Tcl script to display the time as a barcode in a floating window.

You can download the script through the link. It should run on pretty much anything that’s got Tcl 8.0 or later installed.

My sister’s Christmas cards. I shot the photo of my little nephew, then had to remove the white sheet background. About as far as I’ve gotten is the effect she wants, now I need to design the rest of the card.

231   Sean Tevis ~ 28 November 2004 at 12:17 AM

I’m trying to squeeze in a little time over the holiday to finish my personal site. It doesn’t look like it’s going to happen this weekend, though.

232   Sime ~ 28 November 2004 at 04:32 AM

Just redesigned my personal site using wicked worn brushes:

233   Achim ~ 28 November 2004 at 01:56 PM

Just finishing the very last steps of a concept and its realization. It was presented using Apple’s outstanding Keynote.app. Right now I was collecting future tasks mentioned in this document. The web site concept was created for a B2B marketplace for industrial goods.

Keynote brings up extra crisp transitions for those who like it. It took me only 3 hours for a 29 page presentation including screenshots and importing, transitions, content and finetuning.

234   Andy ~ 28 November 2004 at 05:31 PM

Shockingly boring project work.

235   bill mill ~ 28 November 2004 at 07:59 PM

I loved this thread, but I’m no designer, so I wanted to see some more code. Here’s some for the program some of you might use for your blogs.

This is my color tool that I’ve been working on and updating over the last little while. It’s mostly finished, with just a few minor tweaks left to do.

That being said, the level of skill displayed in these screengrabs makes me cry… And inspires me to greater heights! (grin)

Brian, I’ve checked the comments in MT and don’t see any unclosed tags in Kim’s comment or those around it. (Kim is male, btw.)

Any one else having the same issue as Brian?
