12   Mike Steinbaugh ~ 28 August 2007

That book looks fantastic, Cameron. However, I thought the iPhone was designed for the Internet, not a mobile version of the Internet :)

The book might change your thinking here, Mike :)

18   Rick Mason ~ 28 August 2007

Will there be a printed version available, or is it PDF only?

19   Marwan ~ 28 August 2007

22   Ryan Brill ~ 28 August 2007

Ordered the PDF version, but would much prefer a printed copy. Is that in the plans? :)

23   Sean Fousheé ~ 28 August 2007

Using Safari 2.0.4 I seem to be unable to click on anything to the right of the phone including the purchase link (your logo being the only exception). Firefox, however, works fine.

24   Jake Behrens ~ 28 August 2007

Great book. I was very glad to find this. Bought it this morning. Thanks!

25   Cameron Moll ~ 28 August 2007

Will there be a printed version available, or is it PDF only?

Yes, and likely a sizable discount will be offered for those who purchased the PDF.

that devil paypal won’t let me buy the book.

Paypal isn’t available in your area, or just doesn’t work for your account?

26   Cameron Moll ~ 28 August 2007

Using Safari 2.0.4 I seem to be unable to click on anything to the right of the phone including the purchase link (your logo being the only exception).

Yes, a few people have noted that bug. We’re on it!

27   erat ~ 28 August 2007

The wonderful thing about PDFs is that they go both ways: they’re digital for ‘puter reading and they can be taken to just about any print shop (or business that has something like a Xerox DocuTech) and printed as a perfect-bound paperback book.

I have not downloaded my copy yet—I’m still waiting for the email saying I can do so—but I assume the PDF is print-ready.

28   moose ~ 28 August 2007

I’m on firefox and i couldn’t click the button too :\

29   Ty Hatch ~ 28 August 2007

Hey Cameron,

I’m thinking you’ve been slammed with orders this morning as I’ve not gotten my email for the download yet after a 2 hour wait… (Not angry, just antsy to start reading it.)

30   Marwan ~ 28 August 2007

Paypal isn’t available in your area, or just doesn’t work for your account?

Its simply does not support my country (Lebanon)

31   Tom ~ 28 August 2007

Yes, and likely a sizable discount will be offered for those who purchased the PDF.

I was scouring Lulu.com & Amazon to see if you’d gone that route or not… It’s a gorgeous book, Cam, and I want one I can touch!!! Added incentive — you also can’t autograph a PDF (for those of us who will stalk you at future events ;)

32   erat ~ 28 August 2007

Cameron,

I just downloaded the book and loaded it into Adobe Digital Editions (nice book, BTW). The content of the book seems to display fine, but ADE does not find the book’s metadata such as the title, author and TOC. Perhaps this is a formatting thing, or perhaps ADE is still buggy, but I figured I’d mention it.

If the book is supposed to act like a book even when in PDF form, this may be something you’ll want to look into at some point (when the furor dies down, of course). I hardly consider it a show-stopper, though.

Just tryin’ to help.

33   Cameron Moll ~ 28 August 2007

I’m thinking you’ve been slammed with orders this morning as I’ve not gotten my email for the download yet after a 2 hour wait…

Ty, if this is still an issue, email me and we’ll make sure you get taken care of. Same for anyone else. We expected the possibility of delays the first day due to order volume, but we’re dedicated to make sure everyone gets their PDF as soon as possible.

ADE does not find the book’s metadata such as the title, author and TOC.

All of that was in there originally but didn’t carry through to the final version. On the list of fixes!

34   Doug Stewart ~ 28 August 2007

Just bought mine. What a perfect idea- buy an inexpensive book related to what I do for work and win a (free) chance at saving a pile of money on a gadget!

I’m in Canada, but I’d still definitely want the phone if I won.

35   Anand ~ 28 August 2007

I don’t actually care about Mobile Web Design, I just bought it cause it looked so pretty :)

Seriously though, congrats!

36   Cameron Moll ~ 28 August 2007

Now there’s a quote, Anand :)

37   Wolf ~ 28 August 2007

Read it on the train today, besides the abundance of web links it’s a good read - especially for someone who’s knew to the mobile web. But that’s what is, an introduction to the current state of things.

38   Wolf ~ 28 August 2007

knew = new, stupid typo

39   topfunky ~ 28 August 2007

I’m curious about your decision to format the book for US Letter size when most people will view it on screen?

37signals did a similar layout for their “Getting Real” book…wide margins around a smaller area of content.

I publish PDFs as well and have chosen to format them for the screen, but with dimensions that will print nicely on US Letter or A4 paper as well (landscape). It’s much easier to page through and read than a portrait-oriented layout.

40   Julian Schrader ~ 28 August 2007

I too ordered more than an hour ago, still waiting… ;-)

41   Cameron Moll ~ 28 August 2007

Alright, we’ve got a workflow in place for anyone who hasn’t received their email w/link to download the PDF. Send a note to book {at} mobilewebbook dot com if you fall in this category and we’ll get you taken care of.

42   Adrian ~ 28 August 2007

Congrats, Cameron, on getting the book done. Looking forward to reading this tonight. Also, the new mobile site looks great!

43   Ty Hatch ~ 28 August 2007

Cameron,

Got your emails and wanted to publicly say thanks and give you props for your excellent customer service!

Printing it now for the ride home.

44   Joshua Marshall ~ 28 August 2007

Hey Cameron

I’m one of the people who’ve ordered but haven’t received their copy yet. I mailed the address in comment 41 and got a delivery failure notice returned to me.

Um, help? ;)

Thanks!

45   david ~ 28 August 2007

waiting for mail :)

i’m hoping there will be a paperback edition available as well

46   Clifton Labrum ~ 28 August 2007

Congratulations, Cameron! May you sell enough copies to treat your peers to lunch at The Roof. ;)

47   Blake ~ 29 August 2007

You just had to add textures around the edges, huh? ;) Wonderful! Congrats, and I’ll be purchasing said book in the near future. Better pay the rent first… bah! Book first!

48   Dan ~ 29 August 2007

Hey Cameron, Thank you so much for the book! I’m trying to download now, and it looks like the server got killed. That’s good and bad right? ;) Is anyone else having problems accessing the site to download?

49   Dan ~ 29 August 2007

Looks like it’s back up and I got my copy. Thanks!

50   Dave ~ 29 August 2007

Not to sound petty (oops, too late now)…

Ok, I bought the book with no problems yesterday morning, I’ve already perused it (thumbs up) and I look forward to delving in more fully.

(Ok here comes the petty part) I was wondering if there is a way to find out if I’m one of the first 599?

I would like to know if I should get my hopes up for a chance at that iPhone

51   Marco ~ 29 August 2007

Hi from Italy. I’ve just bought your book and I can’t wait to read it.

I’ve also published an article in italian on my company website.

Great work, keep in touch.

Marco

52   Anand ~ 29 August 2007

Hmm well I bought it bout 24 hours ago now but haven’t gotten anything yet :( Is there something else I’m supposed to do?

Ooh nevermind, I just saw that I should email you at book {at} mobilewebbook dot com. I shall do that…

53   Anand ~ 29 August 2007

Edit: Nevermind, apparently I’m stupid and I got the download link in my email. AND already downloaded it yesterday.. but I had sorta forgotten.

54   Tybho ~ 29 August 2007

To announce the release of the book as a PDF version, you did create a mailing-list.

Will you do the same as some of us are waiting for the printed version ?

55   Ankit ~ 30 August 2007

Its a great book, very easy to read and understand. One of the thing I like best is the way Cameron debated many models of implementing mobile versions for your website and discussed pros and cons for each.

A must for anyone interested in highly growing mobile web market.

I am going to implement a lot of things on my website. Thanks Cameron for a wonderful book.

56   Olly ~ 30 August 2007

Congrats Cameron… looking forward to reading it

57   Keith ~ 30 August 2007

Hi,

I have not yet received a link for this book. I have emailed book@ the address given in comment 41 and have heard nothing back. I have checked my spam folders for anything caught incorrectly.

Please let me know how to proceed or get in touch ASAP?

58   Tommy ~ 30 August 2007

Just read few pages of the preview, very well done pdf book, but i prefer printed hard copy, so i will wait for the printed copy, i just don’t like read a book on the monitor screen.

*Bookmarked* wait for printed copy. :)

59   Cameron Moll ~ 30 August 2007

To announce the release of the book as a PDF version, you did create a mailing-list. Will you do the same as some of us are waiting for the printed version?

Yes, I’ll give that some thought.

A must for anyone interested in highly growing mobile web market.

Thanks Ankit!

Keith, you should have received your copy by now.

60   Jenn ~ 30 August 2007

I agree with Tommy and second (or third, fourth, fifth…whatever) the request for a notification when the print edition becomes available.

A book this pretty deserves to be held.

61   nikola ~ 06 September 2007

Great book and I have found a whole bunch of great links and online resources in your book…thnx ;-)

62   Bastian ~ 06 September 2007

Esta muy lindo. Me gusta se dicen. No, realmente me encanta!

63   Stephen ~ 08 September 2007

Has anyone purchased the e-book through PayPal - I did earier today (10 hours ago) - yet I am still waiting for the link to download it, I have skimmed over the preview - which propted me to purchase it - I hope it worked it is precisely what I have been looking for.

64   Stephen ~ 08 September 2007

Having typed the above, it is the weekend, the banks computers do not reboot until tomorrow evening.

65   Stephen ~ 10 September 2007

Reboot has happened, yet I am still unable to download this document!

66   Cameron Moll ~ 10 September 2007
